Nine Nepali women to climb 7 highest peaks of 7 continents

Everest Women Seven Summits Eco-Action, a nine member team of women, is scheduled to begin the first international leg of a mission to climb seven of the highest peaks of seven continents from July, 2010.According to the team, the main aim of the expedition is to highlight the urgent issues of climate change globally. Besides, the project will be made carbon neutral via carbon offsetting.The team has also focused on solar lanterns, bio-gas, and tree plantations in the Himalayan villages to balance the carbon emission from the project as a result.The mission is scheduled to start from Australia on June 29 marking the Golden Jubilee anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Australia.Sailee Basnet, coordinator of the campaign said that US $ 1.3 million is expected to be spent during the expedition.They also expect to finish the expedition by the end of 2011.The seven summits includes Mt. Kosciuszko (Australia), Mt. Elbrus (Europe), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Vinson Massif (Antarctica), Aconcagua (South America), Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania), and Denali (Noth America).The members of the team are Asha Kumari Singh, Chunu Shrestha, Maya Gurung, Ngabang Phuti Sherpa, Nimdoma Sherpa, Pema Diki Sherpa, Pujan Acharya, Shailee Basnet, and Usha Bist.The team members have already successfully climbed Mt. Everest in May 2008 and became the most successful women's expedition ever to summit Mt. Everest

गुणस्तर प्रमाणित नभएका मोबाइल सेटको बजारमा बिगबिगी

काठमाडौ, वैशाख - दूरसञ्चार प्राधिकरणबाट 'टाइप एप्रुभल (गुणस्तर प्रमाणपत्र) नलिएका मोबाइल सेट स्थानीय बजारमा भित्रने गरेका छन् । दूरसञ्चार ऐनको व्यवस्था गरेअनुसार प्राधिकरणबाट मोबाइल सेट भित्र्याउनुअघि प्रमाणपत्र लिनुपर्ने व्यवस्था भए पनि अहिले बिनाएप्रुभल भित्रिएका सेटको स्थानीय बजारमा बिगबिगी छ ।
प्राधिकरणका सहायक निर्देशक कवीन्द्र श्रेष्ठका अनुसार हालसम्म १ सय २३ वटा मोबाइल सेटले मात्र टाइप एप्रुभल लिएका छन् । 'बजारमा आएका धेरै सेटले एप्रुभल लिएका छैनन्,' श्रेष्ठले भने । एप्रुभल लिनेमध्ये १ सय २१ वटा जिएसएम मोबाइल सेट छन् । त्यस्तै ३ वटा मात्र सिडिएमए सिम लाग्ने सेट छन् । 'टाइप एप्रुभल' भनेको मोबाइल सेटको विभिन्न प्राविधिक पक्ष अध्ययन गरी गुणस्तरीय हो भन्ने प्रमाणित गरेर प्राधिरकणले दिने पत्र हो । यसका लागि मोबाइल उत्पादक कम्पनीले आफ्नो सेटको सर्किट, पावरलगायत सम्पूर्ण प्राविधिक पक्षको जानकारी भएको कागजात पेस गर्नुपर्छ ।
यसरी धेरै सेटहरू बिनाएप्रुभल भित्रदँा गुणस्तरहीन सेटबाट उपभोक्ता मारमा पर्ने भन्दै प्राधिकरणले मोबाइल आयातमा नियन्त्रण गरेर यसलाई बाध्यकारी बनाउने तयारीसमेत गर्ने भएको छ । 'सेट आयात गर्दा भन्सारमा टाइप एप्रुभल लिनुपर्ने व्यवस्थालाई प्रभावकारी बनाउन कोसिस गरिरहेका छौं,' उनले भने, 'सञ्चार मन्त्रालयमार्फत पहल गरिनेछ ।'
स्थानीय बजारमा प्रमुख हिस्सा भएका र विश्व प्रसिद्ध कम्पनीले समेत बिना टाइप एप्रुभल मोबाइल सेट भित्र्याउने गरेका छन् । टाइप एप्रुभल गर्नुपर्ने बाध्यकारी व्यवस्था नभएकाले पनि सबै कम्पनीले नगरेको प्राधिकरणका एक अधिकारीले बताए । श्रेष्ठका अनुसार नोकियाले हालसम्म ७३ वटा सेटको टाइप एप्रुभल लिएको छ । त्यसपछि सबैभन्दा बढी सेट प्रमाणित गर्ने कम्पनीमा एलजी रहेको छ । एलजीले ३२ वटा सेटको एप्रुभल लिएको छ ।
निजी क्षेत्रको मोबाइल सेवा प्रदायक कम्पनी स्पाइस नेपालले 'एन सेल' उपभोक्ताका लागि ल्याउन लागेको ब्ल्याकबेरीले हालै टाइप एप्रुभल लिएको छ । स्पाइस नेपालमा ब्ल्याकबेरी भित्र्याउने तयारी गरिरहेको छ । त्यस्तै एचपी कम्पनीले एक वटा मोबाइल नेपाल भित्र्याउनका लागि एप्रुभल लिएको छ । चिनियाँ कम्पनी कोन्काले यसअघि ७ वटा मोबाइल सेट प्राधिकरणबाट एप्रुभ गराएको छ । अर्को चिनियाँ कम्पनी सेन्जेन भिकलले पनि सात वटा मोबाइल सेट एप्रुभ गराएको छ ।
अर्कोतिर जिपिआरएसभन्दा पछिल्लो प्रविधि सिडिएमए सुरु भएपछि नेपालमा लगातार धेरै संख्यामा सिडिएमए सेट भित्रिए पनि हालसम्म २ वटा मात्र सिडिएमए सेटले टाइप एप्रुभल लिएका छन् । श्रेष्ठका अनुसार चौधरी ग्रुपको सिजी मोबाइल र कोन्काको एक गरी दुई सेटले टाइप एप्रुभल लिएका हुन् ।
एप्रुभल लिनका लागि मोबाइल उत्पादन कम्पनी वा नेपाली बजारका लागि आधिकारिक बिक्रेताले सक्नेछन् । उनीरूरुले एप्रुभल लिन खोजेको सेटको सम्पूर्ण विवरण प्राधिकरणलाई बुझाउनुपर्छ । विवरणबाट गुणस्तरीय देखिएपछि मात्र एप्रुभल दिइन्छ । सुरक्षाका लागि यो व्यवस्था लागू गर्नु अत्यावश्यक भएको प्राधिकरणले जनाएको छ । 'नेपालमा बिक्री भइरहेका कतिपय कमसल सेटमा आइएमआई नम्बर छैनन्,' श्रेष्ठले भने, 'यस्ता सेटको प्रयोग गरी धम्की दिने, चन्दा असुल्ने जस्ता आपराधिक क्रियाकलाप हुने गरेको छ ।' आइएमआई नम्बर भएका सेटबाट फोन गर्ने व्यक्ति पहिचान गर्न सजिलो हुन्छ । अर्कोतर्फ मोबाइल सेवा प्रदायक कम्पनीले यस्ता गुणस्तरहीन मोबत्राइलका कारण कम्पनीले गुणस्तर राम्रो नभएको गुनासोसमेत गर्दै आएका छन् । सेटले मोबाइल नेटवर्क र गुणस्तरमा प्रभाव पार्ने उनीहरू बताउँछन् । यसरी बिना एप्रुभल सेट बजारमा आए पनि अहिलेसम्म बजार हस्तक्षेप भने गरिएको छैन । तर गुणस्तरीय मोबाइलका लागि प्राधिकरणले केही गर्ने योजना बनाएको उनको भनाइ छ ।

Nepal Airlines plane takes heavy landing at Mt. Qomolangma foothill

KATHMANDU, April 19 (Xinhua) -- A Nepal Airlines twin otter aircraft 9NABX took its heavy landing at Kangel danda airport in Solukhumbu district, some 125 km northeastern of capital Kathmandu on Monday, according to official.

According to Sugat Ratna Kangshakar, President of Nepal Airlines the plane was flying to Faplu but following the bad weather it divert its direction landing at Kangel danda.

"However, no human injury has been reported except minor damage to the plane," Kangshakar told Xinhua over telephone.

'Govt committed to preserve Himalayan lakes'

Inaugurating the three-day national seminar on "ILBM for the sustainability of Himalayan lakes" in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Sarat Singh Bhandari expressed the government's commitment to protect Himalayan lakes. Experts from Japan, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Philippines and Nepal are participating in the seminar.
